KDE 3.4.3 Released Today

KDE 3.4.3 has been officially released today. I have tried it on my other SUSE 9.3, experimental PC, and can confirm that there is performance gain, font rendering seems improved, and few bugs that I had on 3.4.2 have also been solved. Other’s have also confirmed this. Now I will wait for it to appear of official SUSE repository so I can update my primary desktop to the latest available KDE.

I got out of the habit of using KDE ‘cos I felt it did too much. I prefer gnome because it is a bit more minimalist and organis and I really only use my computer for a few things. I have however started using konquerer as an Ftp client ‘cos I had so much trouble previously with KBear. I might just give it a go to see how much it has improved.

Well, I am using KDE on SUSE and I just love it, same as I love Gnome on Ubuntu. But all in all, I do find KDE more suitable for me, as it’s more customizable, while Gnome is less resource hungry. Both got their cons and pros. I really don’t like KBear as I find it has a lot of bugs, and prefer gFTP or KFTPGrabber instead. Do use Konqueror when on networks using smb.

There should be noticable difference with 3.4.5. And of course, 4.0 will bring so much new for KDE … can’t wit.

Same about KDE 4. It’s kinda the one I’m waiting for. I do use samba but not one konqueror. I’ll gave that a go later. The worst thing I fing when I try to move back to KDE is something buggy usually gets the better of me. Recently it was firefox playing up. When I tried to input anything on forms or bookmark anything it just krashed. (correct about KBear, should have called KBug).

I put on 3.4.3 and I’m back with it. I read a few articles about the strength of the features konqueror has and I now fing it amazing. Also, Amarok - my favourite music player ever.
