skype SIP vs. Skype: Making the “Open” Choicegizmologo2ip9 SIP vs. Skype: Making the “Open” ChoiceOver the past few months, I have found myself conflicted as I have time and again found myself perplexed in an effort to locate a good quality VoIP option for my Linux box. It’s been my experience that many Linux purists will expect you to be using some sort of SIP soft phone, and frankly balk at the very idea of running Skype on their systems. After doing a little research, I’m beginning to understand why.

Today, I have presented a number of options to consider. If you want to use Skype, great! But I would definitely consider Gizmo, or even better, take the leap into coolness with Ekiga.

Every Linux user is going to have his preferred application, but in the end, what good is it if the person you are trying to reach is not using something that is compatible to accept the call, right? >>>>>
