Since XFCE 4.4 will not no longer be able to advertise its low system requirements, I suppose we’re entitled to expect more of it, right?
There is an “official” Xfce Wish List, but here are my own annoyances with Xfce.
At first sight, a vanilla XFCE does not look bad, and it looks even better in Zenwalk. Yet I can’t refrain myself from finding Xubuntu’s layout the best in town. When I quickly reviewed Zenwalk 2.8 for DWW, I managed to make it look almost like GNOME, but with too many clicks and swearing, so let’s summarize what I dislike in XFCE.
#1: What’s the deal with having the panel less than the width of the screen, as long as you can’t put any icons in the remaining space?! A major design flaw IMO.
#2: Transparent icon labels, anyone?
