An openSuse based Live DVD with an up-to-date snapshot of KDE 4 development packages is available. With a virtual machine this makes it easy to have a look at the upcoming KDE 4.
I found a nice name for my openSUSE-based KDE 4 Live CDs/DVDs: “KDE Four Live” - which has also spoken a nice second meaning.
It has been three weeks since the initial announcement, but still two weeks to go until KDE 4.0 Alpha 1, so I updated the DVD to another random SVN snapshot. The refinement and up-to-date keeping of the KDE4 packages in the openSUSE build service continues. A new KDE4 wiki page describes our goals, the packages and their usage.
Today its creator Beineri gave it a nice name - KDE Four Live.
The DVD is build upon the current openSuse development version, openSuse factory, and was created using the openSuse tool “KIWI”. The actual KDE 4 packages are taken from openSuse’s Build Service which updates these packages quite regularly.
If you prefer to test KDE 4 on a running openSuse installation you can just add the KDE 4 repository of the Build Service, of course. It is available for latest 10.2 and as Factory (as upcoming 10.3) fro m http://software.opensuse.org/KDE:/KDE4/
So, you can download the DVD as any other Live DVD.
Just to remind you, KDE 4 release is expected somewhere at the end of October 2007.
